SEND and Alternative Provision (AP) Draft Strategy and Outcome Framework 2024-2029 The SSCP Children’s Safeguarding Board would like to encourage you all to recirculate and encourage feedback on the draft strategy and outcomes framework before the closing date of 6th December. Over 100 responses have been received so far but the Board want to make sure everyone has had the opportunity to share their views, including CYP, families and professionals/partners. For context, if we received feedback from 1% of the households in Shropshire where CYP 0-25 have an identified SEND (supported through EHCP or SEND Support) then we should receive around 230 responses. The details are in the link below to share through all channels... This is really important as the feedback received will be used to direct our collective resources to achieve these goals. Please share as far and wide as possible to encourage participation. ____________________________________________________________________________________ |

The Move to tri.x – Initial Communication for Frontline Practitioners The web link for West Midlands Regional Safeguarding Children Procedures website will change in early 2025. We are working closely with the new provider (Tri.x) to ensure that the new website includes information from our current procedures that are specific to the West Midlands and that all procedures are compliant with Working Together 2023. The changes will affect practitioners working in the following local authority areas: Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Herefordshire, Sandwell, Shropshire, Solihull, Stoke on Trent, Telford and Wrekin, Walsall, Warwickshire, Wolverhampton and Worcestershire. If you are a practitioner working in one of these areas, you will need to access procedures via a new link which will be shared with you in due course. It is very important that all partner agencies take a co-ordinated approach to raising awareness of the change within their organisations. It should be noted that existing shortcuts to the outgoing platform which have been set up on desktops or mobile phones will need to be changed. In addition, arrangements will need to be made to change links currently hosted on staff intranets and other websites. You will receive communication in due course with clear dates for go-live as well as a link to the new procedures site. ____________________________________________________________________________________ |

Opening Doors: Access to Early Childhood Services for Families Impacted by Poverty in the UK NSPCC and UNICEF UK 15.00 – 16.00 Wednesday 4th December 2024 Register for the online webinar here In the UK, more than one in three (36%) children in families where the youngest child is under five are living in poverty. Existing evidence shows links between a young child’s socio-economic background and their health, wellbeing and development outcomes. Early childhood services, including maternity, health visiting and integrated services such as children’s centres and family hubs play a vital role in mitigating the impacts of poverty. They are designed to provide vital preventative advice during pregnancy and early childhood to promote children’s health and wellbeing. But new research from the NSPCC and UNICEF UK highlights that families living on low incomes face barriers which prevent them from accessing these important services. The research centres the voices and experiences of parents living on low incomes, and the professionals who work with them. It sets out recommendations for the UK Government based on findings that are also relevant to practitioners, commissioners and local authorities. On Wednesday 4th December 2024, 15.00 – 16.00, we will share the findings from the research during an online webinar and we would be delighted if you could join us. During the event, you will have the opportunity to:
